Software Carpentry Workshop 19-20th May 2026: Shell, Git and Python
We’re running a workshop on 19th and 20th May 2026 covering Shell, Git and Python in the Gateway.
Organised with OSDS, the workshop is open to research staff and PGR students across the University. No previous experience of the subjects being taught is necessary.
Registration is via PDMS.
The workshop webpage includes a section on getting your laptop set up for the workshop. It is crucial that this is done ahead of time – dealing with setup issues can really eat into time that could be spent learning. This is more important than ever as there have been a number of changes to the software used and the setup processes – the Python setup is a bit more complex than before, and we have less experience in troubleshooting the issues which might occur. Please attempt to get everything set up well ahead of time and email [email protected] if you encounter any issues or need assistance.
